Perfect Pieces- Combat Boots (fashion)

So you have a favorite outfit, right? (even if you don't, just go with it) Well, what makes it your favorite outfit? Maybe a favorite piece? That's how it is for me. I sometimes pick out and outfit designed around one piece. One of my favorite pieces to add are Combat Boots.

Combat boots definitely complete a look or add some spunk and punk to an already completed outfit. Here are some ideas to add to your combat boots!
1. Combat boots and Skinnies:
This is look is a classic. It has a little more "ummph" than just your average t-shirt, jeans, and Converse. Skip the Vans and go with combat boots with your skinnies tucked into them. Then add a band t-shirt of your choosing and some chunky silver jewelery. (Don't forget a studded belt!)
2. Combat boots and a fitted dress:
I love this combination. Try a tight, form-fitting dress with a great print, such as floral, plaid, or just something bold. But I would stay away from colorblock dresses. To me, it looks odd. If it's chilly, add a leather or dark rinse jean jacket. Add knee-high socks to poke out over your boots. To soften the look, add a scarf or a knit hat. To make it bolder, add Aviator sunglasses or red jewelery.
3. Combat boots, leggings/tights and a skirt:
This a much more "trendy" or "mainstream" look, but it can really work. And you can mix it up a lot! Try a solid color t-shirt paired with a skirt. Leather mini skirts look awesome and funky. If you're not into that, try a lace skirt or a solid color pencil skirt (pencil skirts look amazing with combat boots. Gotta love the contrast!) Then add a pair of bright leggings or cool tights. If your feeling really crazy, try striped leggings.
Great stores to get combat boots:
1. Hot Topic (their boots can be pretty expensive but have crazy colors, studs, and other embellishments.)
2. Doc Martens (also expensive but great for basic combat boots.)
3. Thrift stores such as Goodwill, Salvation Army, etc... (go vintage!)

Have fun!

The Alternative Style

In my opinion, the Alternative style is never one specific style. It's a million styles, ideas, and pieces put together. "Alternative to what?"- you might ask. Well it's alternative to the norm, the mainstream. It's something funky, something different, something that not everyone will like. It's a little bit punk, a little bit artsy, a little bit edgy and a lot a bit original.
This is the whole point of this blog... to be original! I'm just showing some of my ideas. It's always up to you to like them or change them. So, I hope you enjoy!

Cheers!
